CINNAMOMUM ZEYLANICUM OR CASSIA

Cinnamon is the Dried inner bark of the tree. C. Zeylanicum is the Higher grade more expensive spice. It comes from a small tropical evergreen Laurel tree. C. Cassia is what you usually find in the grocery store as it is cost less. Cinnamon is a relative of the Camphor tree. It is also a flavoring component of Coca - Cola. It is also know as Sweet Wood and Chinese Cinnamon. It is a Masculine herb, ruled by the sun and the element of fire. It is sacred to the Goddess' Venus and Aphrodite. It's powers are good for Spirituality, Success, Healing, Power, Psychic Powers, Lust, Protection and Love. It is good for extra energy.

Cinnamon oil was used as part of a mixture for a holy anointing oil by the ancient Hebrews. The leaves of the Cinnamon tree were woven into wreaths which were used to decorate ancient Roman temples. The Egyptians used Cinnamon oil as part of the Mummification process. A NOTE OF CAUTION PURE Cinnamon OIL CAN CAUSE BURNS AND INFLAMMATION TO THE SKIN AND EYES USE WITH CAUTION.

Cinnamon, when burned as an incense, raises high spiritual vibrations, aid in healing, draws money, stimulates psychic powers and produces protective vibrations. Cinnamon is also used in making sachets and infusions for these purposes.

Cinnamon is good for flavoring several different fruit dishes, punches, breads, desserts, curries and a few meat dishes. I put Cinnamon in vanilla ice cream. Mixed with other herbs it is good for nausea.

A few cooking tips for cinnamon. Make a marinade for pork by combing 2 tablespoons Soy sauce, 1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger, 2 cloves of minced garlic and 1/4 teaspoon to ground cinnamon. Try adding a small amount of ground cinnamon to tomato sauce.

A good herb tea to help prevent nausea, miscarriage, to reduce labor pains and increases milk production in pregnant women is as follows:

1 part Cinnamon - 5 parts Milfoil - 5 parts Blackberry leaves - 10 parts Raspberry leaves

Steep 1 tsp. in 1/2 cup boiling water. Take 1/2 to 1 cup a day in mouthful doses.
